Positive Choices Through Yoga and Meditiaiton for At Risk and Enhanced Challenged Youth LIMITED

is two phased holistic yoga training program interfacing with at-risk youth, with an added focus on inclusive levels of autistic youths that are placed at risk to act out in the communities at large without creative and innovative yoga therapy intervention.

The participants of the PCYM workshop will be given an or view of what defines at-risk populations, evidence based research findings that lead to mental disorders and delinquency in at-risk youth (psycho-social and psycho-biological) and research outcome utilizing the practice of yoga/meditation for at-risk youth. Added to the training is specific developed methodologies to working with enhanced challenged Asper and Autistic At-Risk Youth. Participants will engage in kinesthetic education and therapeutic art to explore the intra/interpersonal building blocks to explore the core roots of decision making and develop a positive choice yoga therapy practice utilizing specific poses/meditation to meet the needs of at risk and enhanced challenged youth. Class will conclude with a gentle flow yoga practice.

Welcome Introduction - write on index card name, list your fav color(s) and set intention statement

Discussion on the character sketches of at-risk youths and enhanced challenged youth, including evidence based research to help establish the purpose of yoga therapy as a critical and appropriate prevention/intervention

Participants will engage in 2 kinesthetic psychotherapeutic exercises
* Self-esteem (SE) diagram demonstrating high/low locus of control and the SE as the soul-core of our decision making (negative or positive)
* Explore the intra/inter-personal building blocks to a positive self-esteem - participants will use a creative hands-on approach to demonstrate the concepts that Messages/Injunctions and the experiences from Vital Life Groups play an important role in the formation of the self-esteem. Using selected colors through Art Therapy, which becomes a visual media to communicate and express internalized emotional thought processing, the participants will visually internalize and explore the ability to define and develop the conditions of the self-esteem. The transformational process enables the discover of our potentials, possibilities, and self-efficacy. From this journey one arrives with a positive self-esteem and the strength to make positive changes

Developing a yoga class that works: Participants will learn creative and specific breathe work:
* Welcoming breathe work requires creating a trauma sensitive safe space
* Belly Breath Visual Aids
* ABC Neuro Breathe 
* Brain Breath for Cognition enhancement
* Straw and Cotton Ball breathe Work
* Pinwheel Chakra Breathe Work
* Tonal Color Breathe Work
* Elevator Breathe Work

Asana Poses - not about performance but about purpose
* Why specific Asana Poses
* Trace A Pose Asana 
* Non-judgementally meeting your at-risk students where they are at in the pose
* How to respond to 'break- through' during yoga class
* Where is your sense of humor in yoga class?

Meditation - keep is simple and short! Use music that they relate! Step out of the box and into their heart space. 

Students will have 15 minutes to break up into cell groups and choose a sequence using the above training on at-risk behavioral dynamics, breathe work, asana and develop a meditation to demonstrate to the group at large.
