The Low Down On Down Dog by Yapana Yoga: A Thorough Pose Breakdown and Therapeutic Applications LIMITED

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

Downward Facing Dog Pose is taught in almost every yoga class. It is one of the first poses we learn because it teaches us how to integrate useful skills in so many other poses -- some far more complicated. And deconstructing it will connect a lot of dots in other poses. So here's your opportunity to dig into this unique pose and bring your practice to a new level of understanding and enjoyment.

You will learn how to properly support yourself and, if you're a teacher, all levels of students in finding the Dog Pose right for them though simple assessment tools.

In this workshop we will:
• Explore the Key Positioning Skills "Push and Reach" and "Contract and Pull" in order to sequentially stretch through all segments of the spine.
• Learn the proper hand placement for your shoulders to encourage a balanced effort of mobility and stability. Everyone is different!
• Identify and practice supporting poses that promote flexibility of the primary muscle movers required for a safe and steady Downward Facing Dog Pose.
• Discover therapeutic approaches and modifications for common injuries and prevent ones from occurring.

Yapana® an Ancient Sanskrit Word Meaning the Support and Extension of Life. Yapana yoga practice is an innovative blend of vinyasa flow to warm and prepare the body for poses that are held dynamically and restoratively using props for therapeutic support. Yapana practice is easily modified and adapted to meet the individual needs of students at all levels of experience and skill.
